Men often have a hard time figuring out what they should wear on the first date because they want to make sure to impress their lady. Even if you don’t have an eye for fashion, there are many options available to men who want to look smooth, clean and intriguing. Here are some tips on what to wear on the first date (for men):
Pay Attention To Detail
Since most men clothes are simpler than a woman’s attire, it is important to pay close attention to detail. It is the little things that count when it comes to a man’s wardrobe. This could include the color of your shirt, or the type of shoes you wear. So, while it is not all about style or trendy attire, it is about making sure you look up to part. You want to appear clean, sharp and neat. It is important to not dress too casual or too formal. Formal dress is an obvious option if you are going to a high-end event that requires a suit. If this is not the situation, leave the Armani suit in your closet.
Wear Jeans To Casual Events
Jeans have been around forever, and it is a trend that is not going anywhere anytime soon. They are also comfortable and perfect for going on fun dates, such as a festivals, arcades or the movies. They are also less maintenance and doesn’t require constant ironing. Jeans should be paired with a clean and crisp top. Most men under 40 years of age wear button-up tops (with a collar). If you are going to a social event or museum, try a sweater-vest over the collar shirt to appear extra studious.
What To Avoid
Men should avoid patent leather shoes which are shiny. These don’t look good unless they are worn with a high-end business suit. Avoid wrinkled clothes or dirty nails. Men don’t have to get manicured nails, however, they should be clean. Clean nails represent good hygiene. Do not wear socks which are too thick. This can be a turn-off. If wearing a dressy shoe, make sure to get thin (male) dress socks which can be found at any local department store. Regular white socks should be avoided at all costs unless the date will be featured in a laid-back atmosphere.
Male Accessories
Some women have admitted to liking jewelry on a male, as long as it is not gaudy. A nice watch or bracelet is attractive. Make sure to not overdo wrist jewelry. If wearing a ring, try not to wear it on the pinky finger because of the stigma attached to it.
